CAPUCHIN
FRANCISCANS

What's in your heart ?

Sometimes our hearts long for more than a job.

We are Capuchin Franciscan Friars
You have probably heard of us.  Maybe you have seen us in brown habits and open toed sandals. We are a branch of the Franciscan Family founded by St. Francis of Assisi in 1209.

Do not be satisfied with mediocrity
Francis was someone who saw an image of God in every living creature and tried to inspire his followers to do the same.  He was not interested in superiority or promotion.  He wanted to live as a humble 'brother' to all.  He did what he did well, and nearly nine hundred years later people still talk about him.  He challenged his followers to be on fire with enthusiasm for a life of prayer and the Gospel of Jesus Christ - and not to be content with mediocrity and half measures.

The Sky's the limit
There are over eleven thousand Capuchin Franciscans working in all five continents.  In Ireland, we are working in various different ways: in parishes, in industrial chaplaincies;  in second level schools, in third level colleges, in education and training, working with those who are on the margins of society, in preaching ministries, in youth ministries, etc. There are Irish Capuchins also working in South Africa, Zambia, South Korea and New Zealand.

More than a job
As Capuchin Franciscans we can't offer large salaries or  a company car.  We can't even offer you promotion prospects.  What we can offer you is to live in community, living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, after the example of St. Francis of Assisi.  To be honest, our way of life is more than a nine to five : it's twenty-four seven.
